Is there anything better than a beautiful, sunny day? The feeling of the warmth on your skin, the breeze in your hair, a nice cold drink in your hand… that’s what summer is all about! But, there are some serious risks that come with basking in that sunshine!
In honor of the summer season, we will be running a Safe Sun Campaign for July and August. We hope to raise awareness about the importance of safe sun practices, while at the same time providing useful and interesting facts!
DID YOU KNOW?:
A common misconception is that you can only get a sunburn when you are sitting directly in the sun. That’s just not true… you can get sunburn on hazy or cloudy days! As much as 90% of UV rays pass through clouds. They can also reflect off snow, ice, sand, water, and other reflective surfaces, burning your skin as severely as direct sunlight!
Any part of your body, including your earlobes, scalp and lips, can burn. Your eyes, which are extremely sensitive to the sun’s UV light, can also burn!
Don’t forget your sunscreen!
